The quest for a man-boy to find the greatest of melbourne's food.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
So recently me and my good friend Alex went to a trip to New York City. These are our stories food, love and betrayal. I hope you enjoy them.
Artichoke Basilles Pizza

Have you ever had something that just completely makes you go “DAMN IT” because it’s so damn good? You’re saying this because of several different reasons. Reason #1: Why is my stomach so small that I can’t eat another one of these pies? Reason #2: Why is this place 18 hours away? Reason #3: This is the best slice of pizza I’ll ever have and nothing more that I taste would probably be the same (unless of course I go back here). The margherita slice I had straight come off the oven and it’s fumes makes you wanna say “I want to go to there”. The first bite is the same is the same as embracing your 12 year old cousin (if you’ve got one) it’s fluffy, yet so flavorful. I chomped this bad boy until it way no more. It’s too bad the pizza slice is the size of my head, otherwise I would have a few more slices. Something about pizza in New York that makes me question, why is Melbourne pizza so damn inferior. Is it the water? The passion? The tomatoes? We’ll probably never know, but for now, I’ll stick to my $2 Coles pizza.
Shake Shack

Shake Shack is this burger which sparked attention when it opened in Madison Square Park (the literal park not the baseball stadium) in 2004. The lines were long but the people did not stop coming. The branch I went to was very close to the American Museum of Natural History (the museum where the classic kids flick/book Night At The Museum was based) so make sure it’s on your “places to eat while distracting your children” list.

I ordered the Shack Burger (cheeseburger with the “shack sauce”), cheese fries and a chocolate shake. The burgers are GOOOD. Tender and juicy meat, perfectly sized bun and the vegetables provide the alternative textures which add that extra awesome element. The shack sauce in itself is of unknown origin, but I am guessing it’s some kind of flavoured mayo. It was very good though. The cheese fries are MENTAL. The fries in itself are ‘oh so tasty’ and the cheese is creamy and gooey and AEIFBUAEFUAEWF. I could kill for another bowl of that. The shake in itself was a bit on the average side compared to the rest of the meal, it’s was too thick for our liking and lacking the extra zinggg from the usual milkshake (it was also pretty expensive from my memory). I would go back to New York just to eat at these two places and shop at uniqlo. Just somebody give me the money to do so.
